Hello!
I'm Dr. Tru, the "Queen of Nice Things" and Luxury Life Coach extraordinaire. I'm so excited to guide you in creating your dream life, luxuriously.
A little more about me...
I never miss an opportunity to let people know that I am a Detroit native, born and raised (what up doe!).
As a Luxury Life Coach, I specialize in helping high-achieving women of faith do it all, without the overwhelm. High-achieving is so ingrained in me: I made it through a divorce, temporary homelessness, loss of friends, raising children, and job shifts... all while completing a PhD program (of which, I am the first and only student to have finished the 5-year program in 4.5). My secret? Self-Care. Some of the self-care practices that have served me well are reading, watching anime, and traveling.
I also enjoy presenting as a keynote speaker, having presented for multiple Women's conferences, MD public school systems, the National Dance Education Organization and Maryland Dance Education Association annual conferences, and various community colleges throughout the DMV. Topics covered have ranged from self-care and boosting employee morale, to beating burnout and boundary setting. I have also taught workshops and set performative works in collaboration with various artists and institutions throughout Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Japan, and Costa Rica.
A proud Afrofuturist and Tap Dance advocate, my scholarly works focus on Black Dance and the Black Dancing Body, delving into the connections across geographies, space, and time. My passion for all things Black Dance has led to the creation of a podcast (Dance Talk Realness), a conference centering the Black Dance experience, and a book based on a portion of my doctoral dissertation.
